I founded Ruffin Law Firm in order to improve appellate representation in South Carolina and the federal courts of appeals. I was born and raised in Columbia where I attended USC for undergraduate and law school.
I began my legal career as a public defender where I gained significant jury trial experience and learned how to develop a trial record. I also spent time prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases for the Department of Social Services where I tried numerous cases in family court.
I learned how to be an appellate lawyer while working for the Office of Appellate Defense. I have handled more than one hundred appeals in South Carolina and filed numerous petitions for rehearing and petitions for writs of certiorari. I have argued cases before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
My passion for handling complex appellate litigation led me to founding a law firm dedicated solely to appeals. Appellate courts deal with significant legal issues that can have a profound impact on the cases involved, and society at large. I pride myself on being able to quickly get up to speed on any legal issue presented in a case, no matter how complex. I have represented both individuals and businesses in a wide variety of appeals.
